Joe DeMatteo
Chief Executive OfficerJoe has two decades of executive management experience within the energy industry. He is an expert in building teams, scaling organizations, and growing revenue both organically and through mergers and acquisitions for companies in the electric utilities sector.
As the new CEO of PowerGEM, he is charged with leading the company as it starts a new chapter, marked by a growth investment by private equity firm TA Associates. Within days of starting his new role in April 2024, Joe helmed and completed the acquisition of Astrapé Consulting.
Before joining PowerGEM, he served as Chief Strategy and Sales Officer for Uplight, a global software provider to utilities leading the transition to clean energy. He also served as Director of business development for an electric utility in Southwestern Pennsylvania and held numerous leadership positions, including Director of mergers and acquisitions, at NextEra Energy Resources.
Joe began his career with Duff & Phelps, now Kroll, which provides investment management for energy infrastructure, water and clean energy among other industries, after graduating with a Bachelor of Science in finance from Penn State University.
Joe lives in Lafayette, Colorado, with his wife, son and daughter. When he’s not playing with the kids, he’s most likely golfing, skiing, or fishing. He’s also a fan of watching Penn State football.
