Amin M. Najafabadi is a senior consultant at PowerGEM. His primary area of expertise is in power systems transmission planning studies, with emphasis on steady state, transient stability and short circuit analysis.
Prior to joining PowerGEM, Mr. Najafabadi was with Pterra Consulting for five years, where he provided consulting services to electric utilities, energy market participants, Independent System Operators (ISOs), regulators and investment bankers, in the technical design as well as planning and operations of electric power systems. His experience includes studies of power flow and system stability, short circuit, transient switching overvoltage (TOV) and transient recovery overvoltage (TRV), harmonic analysis, insulation coordination, power quality and distribution generation interconnection. Mr. Najafabadi is proficient in several power systems analysis software tools such as TARA, PSCAD, PSS/E, TSAT, PSAT, ETAP, ASPEN, SKM, PowerWorld, PSLF, OpenDSS and SynerGEE.
Mr. Najafabadi has a master’s degree in electrical power systems engineering from Tennessee Tech University. He is a member of IEEE and author of several technical publications in the area of power systems analysis.
